San Francisco
Public Transportation
Since we flew to San Francisco, we rely completely on public transportation
including the hotel shuttle that takes us to and from SFO (San Francisco Airport),
from here we took the BART to the city center.
One way to the city center stops is $8.10 one way, it went up to $8.25 in July,
2012.
The Cable Car is coming, after dropping some passengers.
This is POWELL and HYDE line to Fishermans Wharf.
We took the BART to Powell and Market Street, then we take the famous Cable
Car to the Wharf.
One way ticket is $6.00, so we bought a 3 day pass for $21.00 where we can ride
all buses, cable car and the street car.
These operator and conductor turn it around by hands.
The line is pretty mild in the morning.
This is the same line in the afternoon, YAIK!
Tourists!
End of the line, waiting area.
We made it! Enough of Cable Car!
You can rent Segway to tour the wharf - another tourist trap!
I see rails....
This is the "F" line to Fishermans Wharf and Market Street
I never have enough of these trolley, so bear with me...Ok.
The trolleys lined up on Jones Street, back to Market street.
$2.00 one way, but we have the 3 day pass.
This is Caltrains - San Francisco station, we take bus #30 that drops us in
front of the station,
there are 12 platforms; it is intimidating at the beginning.
$4.75 for two zones.
Platform number 9 at 4:09 PM
All information is clearly posted, so no worry.
Our train is at 4:27 P.M.to Hayward Park, then a short distance walk back to
the hotel, we have plenty of time.
Inside Caltrains - second floor, this train is made in Japan.
San Mateo station, my mistake!
We took the wrong train meaning NOT all trains stop at Hayward Park.
The trains that stop on a certain stations only is called "Baby Bullet",
who knew!
This is our stop - Hayward Park, notice the small RR Crossing for pedestrians
on the right.
The train continues to San Jose/Gilroy
The next day we repeat the journey by taking the train to the city center.
June 29, 2012 at 8:48 A.M.
Our train arrived 5 minutes late at 9:10 A.M.
I hope you enjoy the journey taking public transportation in
San Francisco.
