Woodcraft Master Bob
The making of over the sink cutting board
October 12th and 13th, 2017
Master Bob selects the wood, make sure it is straight (6 inches by 4 feet)
The actual width is less than 6 inches - 5.5 inches, I think
The cutting board is 18 inches by 8 inches
A rough cut of 20 inches twice with 8 inches of wood left as a scrap or test
piece!
Bob cuts into 1.75 inches with 0.25 inch left over as seen in the picture
We ended up with 6 pieces of 1.75 inches wood
Before we joint the "cutting board" with the wood glue,
he run it on the JOINTER machine for smooth and even surface.
Whoalla.....it's taking shape...
We applied the wood glue and left it overnight!
The next morning, we run it of a PLANER
More sanding...
After Bob cuts to 18 inches, it is time to make the round corner using a template.
1 inch diameter
A band saw is used to follow the template
Break time !
We have no schedule!
Bob used the scrap wood to try to make the 0.25 inch round corner
He adjusts it as necessary
Now, the real board.....
He cuts the 0.25 inch with the table saw
Now the rounded edges, using a router...this is neat..
Rounded edges in a few seconds....
He applies the wood filler...
Lunch time at Chick Fill-A
He sanded more and applied vegetable oil...
Thank you Bob for making the cutting board!
