Blueberry Picking
Roshak Berry Shak
July 3rd, 2020

Roshak Berry Shak is located about 8 miles west from our home.
They opened at 06:00 AM and close at 1:00 PM.
The hardest thing is waking up at 05:00, have a quick bite and go.
When we arrived at 06:01, many cars (pickers) were already here.
This farm is famous for many years, so people are looking forward to the first opening day in early July.

We go as far as we can and stay in row 35
The berries are big and juicy, one pound is $1.75, you can't beat that.
This is Disneyland for us,

The close up

This year crop is excellent.

Rows after rows of blueberries.
Today is a perfect weather for picking, the clouds are thick and the sun is nowhere to be found.
The temperature is about 52 Fahrenheit or 11 Celsius.

I have no worry about social distancing.

After about 45 minutes.

Pokie is very selective when it comes to picking the berry.

My style of picking is like "Milking the Cow"
I bring it to the bucket and rubbing it gently, usually the ripen will fall easily.

BH - Blueberry Hills, the sister farm closer to home.
One more bucket and we can go home.

Now, after 1.5 hours we are done.
Guess how many pounds? Lucky I bring a cart.

Plexiglas is the norm these days.
We transfer the berries to the brown bags.

We had enough for the year, some are eaten fresh and some will be canned.
Four brown bags of nine pounds each.
