Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve
October 6th, 2021
The entrance of the Nature Center
This is the only natural display of its kind in United States.
This actual nest was brought down its entirely from Fernhill Wetlands because
the tree was dying.
It's measure 8 feet by 6 feet, very impressive.
Some comparison
It was raining hard yesterday, now we have sky show.
Every time I take a moment to take picture, Pokie is a "mile" ahead
of me.
The viewing platform
The view from the platform
Aah my simple retirement bench.
This is Jackson Bottom Wetlands Trail.
I can't ask for a better sky.
Ducks viewing area
We are going to the north end of this trail
I saw a ranger spotting wild animals as I thought with a powerful monocular,
but after talking to her it turned out she looked for water level,
the indicator stick is located far away in the middle of the wetlands.
I see housing so the end of the trail is not far away.
End of trail to the north, highway 219 is right in front.
We had back to Nature Center for a bathroom break and "lunch" in the
car.
Viewing platform in Pintail Pond I think.
End of River Trail - Tualatin River is visible
River Trail - 0.32 mile
Kingfisher Trail
The sky is closing up, it will rain soon!
Kingfisher Marsh Viewing Platform
Pintail pond loop 0.64 mile
Another duck viewing platform.
Earlier that morning, we stop at
Oregon Heritage Farm for some more apple cider and pumpkin donuts.
