September 9th, 2021

Buxton Trestle, Buxton

The last excursion steam train circa 1965
I wish I have a "time machine" to see this train running again.

V.S.P.&.S.S.R.R.
Vernonia South Park & Sunset Steam Railroad

Here we found that the rangers are full of the area knowledge, what a treat.

The horseshoe Trestle (107 years old) was washed out and UN-repairable.
A new trail was built with up to 11% grade, this is the steepest of the B-V Trail

Having a Handicap sticker has its advantage, we can park right on the trailhead.

We went south for about half a mile and back.

A haven for bicyclists

We went back to the trailhead

We took a break, then to the north of the trail.

I found a pond, but it's full of algae.

Again we went back after half a mile or so

We saw Bambi's mom!

Downtown Vernonia, lunch time.

In 1927, Oregon-American Mill in Vernonia becomes the largest in the world.

Vernonia in 1930s

Lake Vernonia
The end trail of Banks - Vernonia State Trail

We walked around the lake, about one mile.

An unusual building, maybe an old mill, trees are growing from the inside.
I was curious, so I went inside!

Someone told me this is an ever changing graffiti!

My retirement bench!

Future picnic table
