June 23rd, 2018

I was told this is the most scenic excursion, the top five train trip in the world.
This is the Coastal Classic trip.

The view from our dining car while we were having breakfast.

On the left is Seward Highway, the track is almost parallel for many miles.

The view from our dome car

This is what happened when someone shouted "EAGLE" or "MOOSE" on the left.
It is encourage, everybody is a wildlife spotter.

The train passes glaciers that we could not see from the highway.
BTW, this is the steepest grade to Seward

This lake is glacially fed, notice the turquoise color.

Mile Zero - Seward (end of the line)

Seward Harbor

Now the train has been reversed, ready to go back to Anchorage, arriving at 10:00 PM
Plenty of daylight since sunset is at 11:41 P.M.

Float plane school, at 15 years old you can have your pilot license before you can legally drive.
I was told that 1 in 6 is a license pilot in Alaska.

Glacier along the way.

Downgrade

Picture just does not do any justice for this beauty.

On the way to Anchorage is not as crowded compare to this morning trip.

This is the Denali Star, Anchorage to Fairbanks
On the distance is DENALI (the great one)

Exactly half way, the trains meet, one from Anchorage and one from Fairbanks.
The crew from Fairbanks are going back to Fairbanks and vice versa.

This area is Denali lodges and hotels.

The Alaska Railroad pulls two Wilderness Dome in this trip

This is my ENGINEER view,
Car A, seats A1 and A2 - the best

Well, I hope you enjoy the Alaska Railroad Trip.
