Greater Toronto Area
Public Transportation
I have to deal with multiple transportation authority, namely Mississauga and
Toronto.
So I bought GTA Weekly Pass for the week 38, good Monday through Sunday
September 14th through September 20th, we used 5 full days.
At $61.00 per person is still a bargain and very convenience to use.
Let the journey begins.....
This is the spot where we were dropped off every morning - Eglinton Avenue E
and Albina Way
We take bus 35 E to Islington Subway Station, it takes about 40 minutes, remember
we are in the suburb.
Islington Station. This is the
Green line
DWA - Designated Waiting Area
With Toronto Subway, you need to know Westbound, Eastbound, Northbound and Southbound.
I have become a human GPS.
In the morning since we started on a second station, the crowd is manageable.
This is St. George Station
This platform is still Westbound and Eastbound, we need to find Southbound to
Union Station
Follow the crowd, while watching where we go, I take the escalator to go up.
The Southbound (
Yellow line) is crowded
during rush hour.
We reached Union Station
Here's the map! Notice the Union Station is in the bottom of "U"
Every line goes northbound, you just need to know the final destination and
the next station.
On the left top of "U" is Downview and the right is "Finch"
(I just remember the D comes before the F)
Here's an example of Northbound to Finch and the next station is King.
Union Station Subway Station.
On the new Yellow line, you can move from one car to the next.
This is the Union Station for the Streetcars, mainly line 509 Harbourfront and
510 Spadina
The next station is Queens Quay and it is still underground.
Notice the two
bright blue lights, all TTC
system has them.
Torontoans love to see these lights, especially during winter time.
This is where the streetcars emerge from the underground or enter for that matter.
In a second I thought I was in Japan when I saw these Japanese schoolgirls.
I am not the only one, look at the guy in the subway! He gave a second look!
The Streetcar number 505 - Dundas Street
Streetcar #504 on King Street
My all time favorite Station
Museum Station
Riding the subway is the highlight for my trip
Since it is the
Yellow line, it is Northbound
and Southbound
Going back to the "Homebase"..
We "reverse engineer" the subway route then,
1. We can take bus 35 W from Islington Station
2. We can take Express bus 109 N (Meadowvale)
3. Take the Airport Rocket from Kipling to the airport then 7 S
This is Mississauga City Centre (Square One mall)
Square One Shopping Centre
This is the sexy building - Marilyn Monroe as people call it.
If we see this, we are almost home!
Then take bus 7N to airport from Mississauga City Centre,
stop at Elia Ave and Sorrento Drive, then a short walk.
This is Friday afternoon, the end of our journey in taking the public transportation
in Toronto.
We are "home" for dinner.
