Vancouver Island
Victoria - Nanaimo - Union Bay - Qualicum Beach
July 28th - August 4th, 2016

On the road again! July 28th, 2016
Bellingham RV Park
During the summer time I have learned to make reservation, even for just one night.

Port of Tsawwassen
We got here before 8:00 A.M., but we did not get to the ferry until the 10:00 A.M. sailing.
I learned that August 1st (Monday) was a holiday for Canada.

Aboard the ferry, I have never seen so many people before!
This ferry is from Hongcouver (Vancouver) to Victoria
When there were too many people like this, mannerism is at a premium! Trust me!

The BC Ferries has to cross a narrow passage between two islands.
The one in the background is Mayne Island.
This ferry is coming from Schwartz Bay (Victoria)

On the left is Mayne island and on the right is Galiano island.

This is the Heritage Acres close to Victoria, BC

VIME - Vancouver Island Model Engineers
This kid is preparing the ride at 10:00 o'clock
The track is a mile long. My second train ride of the year, I exhausted my quota.
VIME is within the Heritage Acres

Another kid is preparing for the ride as well.
Today we have a truck show (background)
I never knew Vancouver Island has model railroad..what a treat for me.

Percy comes alive! This is cool.

I think I rode three times that day, when it comes to train, I am just a little kid at heart.
It is all donation.

Pokie is waiting patiently for her turn.
I think four train are running that day.

The big kid really enjoyed the ride, Pokie is the photographer!
All aboard....

Mon Petit Choux, a French Bistro, Nanaimo, BC
We drove about 2 hours from Victoria.
Out favorite bakery is closed on Sunday.
It is a MUST stop, our chef friend from Denman island told us about this place.

Downtown Nanaimo on Sunday, no traffic!

Just Like Moms Bakery - Union Bay
We have to order this cookies before hand- Bird Nest

Union Bay is famous for its oysters as well.

Happy Birthday Bruce!
I thought from he told me two years ago, he is 100 years young today, well, he miss it by one year!
Happy 99th birthday.

Qualicum Beach, very tranquil!

Old Country Store - Coombs (just a few miles from Qualicum Beach)
Just looking...just looking...

This Old Country Store is famous for goats on the roof.

Left to right, Bruce, his daughter Linda, Bonny and Pokie
One big happy family!

This is Qualicum Beach train station, no longer used today, very sad.
We rode the train from Nanaimo to Courtney is 2002
VIA Rail Canada is running the show, to fix the tracks about Can, $20.0 million
Most of the railroad ties are rotten.

We found a small church next to the abandoned train station. Cool!

It took 5 minutes to go to Canada, it took 1.5 hours to get back to our own country. YAIK...
We had a secondary inspection, the custom officials threw away our avocado, apples, and lemons.
The sad part is those items, we acquired in the US.
NO MORE BORDER CROSSING for awhile.
