Astoria Column
June 7th, 2024
This monument of natural riches was build in 1926.
Made of steel and concrete, standing 125 feet tall.
The first time we came here was 30 years ago.
It's good to see it again after that many years.
I will take you the journey before coming here.
Columbia River Maritime Museum
Now, we have lunch at
Bowpicker Fish and Chips
Newly found place to go to - Custard King
It's unfortunate we had to witness an OD (over dose) person.
Astoria - Megler Bridge from the Astoria Column Parking Lot
A wider view
This column has 164 steps..
We are going up there yes 164 stairs up.....
We are going to fly this glider
We need to stop several time to reach the viewing area.
BTW, the glider flew far since it gets some updraft a bit.
That's the parking lot below, just like toy cars
Look at the snow capped mountains..
L - Mount Ranier
R - Mount St. Helens
A cargo ship is coming
In the distance is Columbia River Maritime Museum
Watching the ship moving ever so slow
On the way home we took Hwy 26 at stop at Camp 18
An old logging town full of story of
BIGFOOT
We also made a stop here, and find nothing
